Belgium: Public money for Covenant Signatories
In the region of Wallonia, Belgium, municipalities which commit to signing the Covenant of Mayors and develop a local climate and energy policy are entitled to benefit from funding support in the framework of the [POLLEC campaign->http://www.apere.org/index/node/133], which covers up to 50% of the local authority’s related tendering costs.

Some 24 Belgian municipalities are soon expected to join the Covenant through this campaign, which is coordinated by APERe (Association for the promotion of renewable energies) and the Union of Walloon cities and municipalities.

The Walloon air and climate agency is also involved in the process to support the local authorities in the elaboration of their Covenant Baseline Emission Inventory. The agency is in the process of adapting its existing tools to a format compatible with the Covenant of Mayors SEAP template.
