Covenant of Mayors Signatories discuss financing opportunities
On 12 October 2011, city representatives gathered at the House of Cities, Municipalities and Regions in Brussels to exchange experiences of accessing European funding for energy efficiency. This event, organised by the Covenant of Mayors Office alongside the 9th European Week of Regions and Cities, took the form of three discussion groups.

Existing funding schemes, including new facilities such as the EEE-F and the Smart Cities and Communities Initiative, were presented by fund managers of the financial institutions concerned, namely the European investment Bank, KfW Bankengruppe and Deutsche Bank. Participants were given the opportunity to interact directly with the speakers.

In the afternoon, Ralf Goldmann of the European Investment Bank presented the ELENA assistance facility via the first ever Covenant of Mayors webinar. A live helpdesk also ran during the afternoon, allowing Covenant signatories to meet the Covenant of Mayors Office staff.
