Covenant of Mayors welcomes its 3000th signatory!
The Covenant of Mayors has reached a new milestone in his history with the welcoming of its 3000th signatory.

Just over two years after the first Covenant of Mayors Ceremony, at the occasion of which more than 350 cities publicly expressed their determination to create a more liveable environment for their citizens, the number of Covenant Signatories has increased exponentially.

The “identity” of the 3000th city will be revealed on the occasion of the 2011 Covenant of Mayors Ceremony. To mark this special occasion, the newly-joined signatory will be offered a special prize, to be disclosed on the day of the event. The number of local authorities which have joined the Covenant –among which close to 800 are already implementing their action plans – is conferring credibility to the EU ambitions in the fight against climate change. In a period when the next EU multi-annual financial perspectives are under discussion, the firm commitment of signatory cities represents a powerful argument to continue supporting local authorities in their ambitious efforts.
