Covenant policies in Italy: Coordinating bodies to hold first national meeting
It is no coincidence that the majority of mayors committed to the Covenant climate and energy objectives are from Italy. This can be explained by the fact that the country’s regions and provinces often play an important role in implementing EU policies.

To further maximize the impact of the Covenant in Italy – especially in terms of multi-level governance – the Region of Abruzzo, one of the initiative’s many Italian coordinating structures, is organising a first-of-its-kind networking event in partnership with the Covenant of Mayors Office. Indeed, this event will seek to bring together all of the Italian Covenant Coordinators in a bid to share best practices and find new cooperation avenues. Covenant Coordinators from other countries are obviously welcome to this event which also purposes to provide the central government, and all other local and regional bodies, with a strong message on the importance of Covenant policies for growth and employment in Italy.
