When art meets sustainable energy: Five Covenant Signatories show their commitment creatively
Five municipalities (Masone, Lavagna, Cogoleto, Mele and Serra Riccò) of the [Province of Genova->] – a Covenant of Mayors coordinating body – have found an innovative way to show their commitment to local sustainable energy. The signatory municipalities have mandated young artists from the Ligurian Academy to paint thematic murals representing this topic, either displayed in the municipalities’ central squares or in schools, to be clearly visible.

Besides its obvious awareness-raising purpose, the initiative was described by the project coordinators as a way to regain control of the public spaces otherwise « colonised » by advertising and commercial materials. This project – co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund - was launched in the framework of the 2013 EU Sustainable Energy Week and is now promoted by the Province through its Muvita foundation.
