Covenant Coordinators are public authorities that are in a position to provide strategic guidance, technical and financial support to Covenant of Mayors signatories and municipalities signing up to it.
Alongside financial assistance, Covenant Coordinators typically support signatories in conducting a CO2 emission inventory and/or a climate risk assessment, as well as in preparing and implementing their Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans.
- Covenant Territorial Coordinators are decentralised authorities, such as regions, provinces or grouping of local authorities,
- Covenant National Coordinators are national public bodies such as ministries or national energy agencies.
The European Commission recognises them as important allies to support Covenant of Mayors signatories to meet their commitments and increase the impact of the Covenant.

StrategyThe objective of fostering energy efficiency in the provincial territory is pursued through different instruments both of a financial and non financial nature. Provincia di Roma as supporting structure would ensure: - Coherence of climate change investment programme in the region - Support to municipalities in the technical preparation of SEAPs and bankable projects - Deliver CO2 reduction programmes at scale - Technical and financial support forSEAPs implementation - Information to municipalities of the initiative

Description: The Province of Rome celebrates the European Researchers'Night 2011 (http://ec.europa.eu/research/researchersnight) within the weekly programme organized by the researchers' Association "Frascati Scienza" (http://www.frascatiscienza.it/pagine/notte-della-ricerca-2011) in the city of Frascati (Rome), area particularly rich in national and European research centers. The event sponsored by the Province of Rome, Department of Innovation&Entrepreneurship, is promoted by their technology transfer office "Officina dell'Innovazione" (www.officinainnnovazione.it) and is focused on "Technologies and Innovations close to the territory: the concept of Smart Cities". The workshop has a strong characterization on urban environmental sustainability and on the Covenant of Mayors, of which the City of Frascati is signatory. The event plans the presentation of innovative projects and products from research institutes, local companies and start-ups that propose the use of ICT to improve citizens' quality of life: environment, mobility, energy consumption, lighting, buildings.
