Salerno to host Covenant of Mayors Thematic Workshop
The Covenant of Mayors Office (COMO) is organising a Thematic Workshop in Salerno, Italy, on 30 April 2010 as part of the Energie-Cités Annual Rendez-Vous. The Thematic Workshop, which will be held in the Grand Hotel Salerno, will be an opportunity for all signatories and Supporting Structures of the Covenant of Mayors to come together and share their experiences. Registration for the event, which will take place from 09:00 – 16:30 hr, is free for all Covenant signatories.

New European Commissioner for Energy takes office
Mr Günther Oettinger has taken on the role as European Commissioner for Energy. Speaking during his hearing before the European Parliament, Mr Oettinger, the former Minister-President for the state of Baden-Württemberg, stated that Europe needed a comprehensive paradigm shift in energy policy. He went on to say that the decarbonisation of European energy supplies and greater energy security were the priorities for his term in office.

Covenant of Mayors moves to new DG Energy
Following the formation of the new European Commission, the Directorate-General for Transport and Energy has been split into its constituent parts. As such, the Covenant of Mayors initiative is now under the remit of the Directorate-General for Energy.

Castilla y León office in Brussels to host fourth Covenant of Mayors regional debate
The Castilla y León office for Spanish Regions and Provinces, Boulevard Louis Schmidt 97, 1040 Brussels, will host a breakfast meeting on February 26, 2010 at 9:30 as part of the series of debates organised by the Covenant of Mayors Office and the Brussels Offices of the European Regions and Provinces.
