“Delivering on the Covenant of Mayors”: IEE projects are strategic enablers
18 February 2013 - 15:09

The Covenant of Mayors has grown up. It will soon turn five years old and include some 5,000 mayors committed to EU climate and energy objectives. Many of the early signatories are now looking back on the progress made thus far, while others are just starting with the planning or implementation phases.

Whatever their stage in the process, a large majority of these Covenant of Mayors cities rely on external assistance to comply with their ambitious commitments. This help comes not only through extensive cooperation with Covenant Supporters and Coordinators, but also from the numerous funding instruments and projects financed through the Intelligent Energy-Europe Programme (IEE).

To know more about how signatories, coordinators and supporters are moving Europe closer to the 20-20-20 energy and climate objectives, join the event “Towards sustainable energy communities – delivering on the Covenant of Mayors”, to take place on 18 March at the Thon hotel in Brussels, discussing achievements of several IEE projects supporting the Covenant.
