This ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) 37101 certification is a standard created to help communities implementing a sustainable development strategy taking into account the economic, social and environmental context. It defines the actions that a community must put in place to achieve development objectives more suited to the social, environmental and economic needs of the territory.

The standard - structured on a strategic and an operational pillar- will lead the Municipality of Sappada to manage attractiveness, conservation and improvement of the environment, increasing its resilience, responsible use of resources, social cohesion and wellbeing.

Sustainable development has been a priority for Sappada’s Administration, led by the Mayor Manuel Piller Hoffer during this process. The certification will now allow, for example, to plan public initiative with precise criteria and verifiable indicators from an environmental and economic perspective, in order to make sure they bring an added value to the community.
